Pellenc becomes first manufacturer to offer 3-year commercial warranty

Etesia UK, the UK distributor of Pellenc battery-powered tools has announced it will now offer a three year commercial warranty as standard. The warranty is an extension of the normal manufacturers 12 month warranty.

General Manager for Etesia UK, Les Malin, said that this firmly establishes the Pellenc brand as the only truly professional range of battery-operated products on the market.

“We have always been confident with the exceptional quality of the Pellenc tools, and have total confidence in every product that we sell to customers.

That’s an easy thing to say as a manufacturer, but to back it up with this new warranty is quite a different matter and further proves that the Pellenc brand is way ahead of any other battery-powered equipment currently on the market”.

Pellenc tools can now be seen in every major UK city, as well as the majority of national trust sites around the country. “Most councils and contractors are looking more closely at the lifetime cost of their machinery and not just the initial purchasing cost.

Our product is not the cheapest to buy, but if you consider lifetime cost, repairs, maintenance and downtime, the value is there for all to see”.

In the last five years, Pellenc has gained market recognition by offering a unique range of ‘zero emission’ battery-powered handheld tools, thanks to the development of Lithium-ion ultra-high performance batteries.

This technology, which is exclusive to Pellenc, allows for a drastic reduction in the production of greenhouse gases and noise pollution. It is also comfortable for users, meets new sustainable development demands and offers excellent economic profitability.

Pellenc is exclusively distributed in the UK by Etesia UK. All tools and batteries purchased after the 1st May 2014 will be covered with a 3 year manufacturer’s warranty. Terms and conditions apply.

Etesia Pedestrian Mowers Stand the Test of Time

A range of Etesia mowers, including two new Duocut RMHB 46cm pedestrian mowers, are helping to maintain the green space areas surrounding and including Durham university – the UK’s third oldest university.

Durham University has a unique estate, which includes 63 listed buildings and also owns and manages the World Heritage Site in partnership with Durham Cathedral.

The University’s ownership of the World Heritage site includes Durham Castle, Palace Green, and the surrounding buildings including the historic Cosin’s library.

Barry Shipman has been working in the garden and grounds team at the university for over 40 years and was recently promoted to garden and grounds supervisor. He now has a team of nine gardeners to assist with the upkeep of the facility which is roughly a third of Durham city and also includes the botanical gardens.

When purchasing new equipment, Barry discusses matters with the horticultural officer to see what machines are suitable and could make the life of their operators easier which include noise, vibrations etc.

Barry and his team like to keep the grass short and presentable at all times, which over the last year has been very testing, but as he explains, has been made easier with the range of ride-on and pedestrian mowers he discovered over 15 years ago.

“We have an excellent relationship with our local machinery dealer, Lloyds, who are very knowledgeable and they recommended Etesia to us when we were looking for a mower which we could use in the wet and capable of being able to cut and collect or cut and drop,” explained Barry.

“I like the fact that we can cut, collect or cut and drop using the same machine because it saves us so much time. We order three new machines per year, which simply replace the oldest ones and so the cycle continues.

“The Etesia mowers have really come into their own in the past 12 months because they have been so good at cutting and collecting in the wet weather we’ve experienced.

We have mobile grass cutting teams and the new Duocut models have been popular with them because they are very light for people to lift on and off van/trailer from site to site.

The new range of Duocut 46cm mowers are extremely versatile, and are capable of mowing with or without collection in all conditions, or allowing high-quality mulching.

And they do all of this with no need for an accessory – you just place the removable insert under the deck if you choose to mulch, making them very operator-friendly. Excellent mulching results are achieved because the grass is very finely ‘crushed’, even if it is long and wet.

“We have over 15 ride-on and walk-behind Etesia machines and return to them time and time again because they certainly stand the test of time,” says Barry.

Etesia provides quality for landscape contractor

Sherratt Landscape Contractors, a commercial grounds maintenance company based in Flintshire Wales, has recently invested in a fleet of new Etesia pedestrian and ride-on mowers to ensure that the high quality the company is renowned for is maintained.

Craig Stockton, Managing Director at Sherratt, comments: “We had used other brands before but always had problems with reliability. I spoke with Jonathan from Morris’s Stores, our local dealer, and he recommended looking at Etesia. We had a demo and since the change-over to Etesia it’s really worked for us.”

Craig decided to change their fleet of pedestrian mowers to the PRO 46 and PRO 51 and ride-on mowers to the Hydro 80 which have been continuously at work on 80 gardens in North Wales each and every day for the past five years, with nothing but regular servicing ever required.

Designed to meet the rigours of a wide variety of comm have a 5hp Briggs and Stratton engine. Cutting width is 46cm, the detachable grass box with ‘full’ indicator has a capacity of 52 litres, and overall weight is just 37kg.

Designed around the operator, the handlebars are ergonomically shaped and mounted for ease-of-use. New ‘soft-touch’ controls reduce pressure on the hands and fingers during operation.

Extensive testing of these latest models has shown low vibration levels that meet stringent Health and Safety guidelines. There are six models available in the range, with options including a mulching facility.

The compact Hydro 80 ride-on mower is ideal for multi-tasking and easily adapts to every terrain, every grass cutting situation and every task.

The pocket-size cut and collect mower, at just 0.82 m wide and 1.98 m long, features an incredibly tight turning circle and is able to nip into every nook and cranny as well as being able to be easily transported in the back of a van or on the back of a trailer.

“After using Etesia for the past five years, we now know the life cycle of a machine. If we are tendering for a three year maintenance contract, we know that the Etesia mower will last.

“The PRO46 and PRO 51 mowers are bullet proof but also light weight which enables one-man grass cutting teams to operate. Manoeuvrability of the Hydro 80 is fantastic. The fact that they can fit through gates whilst cutting and collecting even in the wet is by far its best feature,” said Craig.

Landscape Contractor Chooses Pellenc for Quiet Garden Maintenance

Alaster Anderson Specialist Gardeners, a London-focused soft landscaping and garden maintenance company, has purchased a range of environmentally friendly battery-powered Pellenc products.

The purchase includes two grass strimmers, two hedge trimmers, two blowers, long reach hedge cutter and chainsaw – all powered by four ultra-lithium batteries, which provide a constant power, giving the contractor up to a full day of work depending on the type of tool used.

Senior Horticulturalist Natalie Nixon first heard of Pellenc three years ago whilst working at RHS Wisley, where the products are also extensively used. “I was very impressed with the Pellenc products I had used at Wisley, so when I joined here, it was only natural I recommended them when a customer said he wanted to use ‘green’ maintenance equipment where ever possible.”

Natalie’s priority is a six acre private garden in North London where she spends 3-4 days each week, which was designed by Christopher Bradley-Hole and is based on the concept of field patterns. “We have a lot of grasses, perennials and hedging made up of maple, beach and hornbeam which all require a lot of on-going maintenance.”

Hedging can take anything up to six weeks of the year, which is generally at the end of July and the beginning of August. “What I find really good when we have to cut the hedging is how quiet all the machinery is. I know our client doesn’t like to hear the noise of petrol-powered tools, so using the Pellenc equipment ensures it’s so much quieter not just for the client and neighbours but also for us as the users as well It means that we no longer have to use ear defenders which can sometimes be restrictive.”

Natalie particularly likes the four-speed selector on the Helion hedge cutter, Excelion grass strimmer and Airion blower: “I like the fact that you are able to work at variable speeds, which are really easy to adjust to the correct working speed, rather than just on or off. For what we do here, this technology is perfect as you have a lot of control and get a really good finish.”

Another benefit that Natalie likes is that the battery pack is harnessed to the users back, which she explains makes the machines simpler to use and easy to handle.

“With the amount of adjustments that can be made on the harness, the machines are ideal for quality work. I used to struggle with petrol hedge cutters and that can really affect the quality of the cut. I found that I was getting tired by the end of the day and began to drop the blade, but it’s now a distant memory since we’ve switched to Pellenc.

Pellenc is exclusively distributed in the UK by Etesia UK.

Sssh, There’s a Pellenc About

The clearance of leaf fall and general maintenance is no longer a problem to Oliver Deeming, Grounds Maintenance Manager at the University of East Anglia (UEA), one of the world’s leading universities, thanks to the purchase of two Pellenc Airion battery-powered blowers and a Helion hedgecutter.

Located in 362 acres of rolling parkland but just two miles from the cathedral city of Norwich, the university has hundreds of trees with oak and birch the principal offenders in terms of leaf shedding.

For weeks on end Oliver and his team have the daily task of seeing that the mixed range of environments including housing blocks, classrooms, gardens, sports pitches, meadows and ancient woodlands which surrounds the university are safe from fallen hazards and always look in tip-top order.

Oliver’s dilemma had always been keeping a balance between maintaining the universities grounds and minimising disruptive noise. Previously, his petrol-engine leaf blowers and hedgecutters needed air defenders for the operative, so the lecturers did not welcome maintenance work throughout academic hours albeit necessary. Eighteen months ago he was introduced to Pellenc Lithium-ion battery-powered equipment by his local machinery dealer Felthorpe Mowers of Norwich and since then he hasn’t looked back.

“At first and because of past experience with electric equipment, I was a little sceptical about whether such quiet machines would actually have the power to do the job we wanted them to do,” said Oliver. “I didn’t want us to go back to hand equipment, so we took the Pellenc equipment on a two-day trial. I don’t mind admitting that I have been proved wrong. In fact, I would actually say it’s even more powerful than a conventional petrol blower of the same size.

“We use the blower for a full day’s work around the buildings with the added bonus of low vibration and low noise. They are also easy to carry, and having a multi-purpose power source in the battery back-pack is a real asset, allowing us to switch tools such as the hedgecutter from job to job.

The University has long been a leader in the field of environmental research and training and is committed to replicating this success in how they care for their campus and its surrounding environment.

“I wanted the university to be a leader in low carbon, low noise, low impact machinery and Pellenc has certainly helped me achieve this. I will be looking to replace all our petrol equipment with Pellenc battery-powered equipment where possible.

“People need to get over pre-conceived ideas that they have about past electric equipment and need to test this equipment for themselves – it’s brilliant.”
